Back in October last year came news that Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth would star in Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa. Now we have some big production details.
The epic production – the biggest yet in Australia – is set to commence filming next year, and it will be made in New South Wales. Their premier, Gladys Berejiklian, was quick to celebrate the fact:
Great news the Mad Max prequel – Furiosa starring Chris Hemsworth – is being filmed right here in NSW. The biggest ever film to be made in Australia, supporting more than 850 local jobs and bringing in $350 million to the economy. pic.twitter.com/HzZXcqeAUt

Hmm, the titular star of the show may be a bit miffed there. But anyway…
At the launch for the announcement, also attended by Chris Hemsworth, Mad Max main man George Miller hinted that Furiosa would be a long-running saga, rather than a brief slice of a couple of days of life like the last film.
Meanwhile, the man whom we also know as Thor seems quite chuffed to be in a Mad Max movie, claiming that snagging the role was “the biggest pinch-myself moment.”
At present, it’s planned to have Furiosa hitting cinema screens in June, 2023.
