Classic 1980s comedy series Married… with Children is set to return all these years later, with the Bundys taking on animated forms.

Rather than just taking the name and changing everything, however, the original cast of Ed O’Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate and David Faustino are set to reprise their rather dysfunctional roles from the sitcom, which ran for ten years originally.

The news comes via Deadline, who also report that the series has been written by Family Guy executive producer Alex Carter, who’ll also act as the series showrunner. The series is currently being pitched to various networks in hopes of being picked up.

If you’ve somehow managed to miss it, Married… with Children went in the opposite direction of the typical family love-fest sitcoms of the day. Husband Al was a downtrodden women’s shoe salesman, his wife Peg a lazy housewife, daughter Kelly wasn’t the shiniest button on the coat, and son Bud had quite the smart mouth. It all came together for something that pushed the line of taste many times, providing the perfect antidote to the perfect lives depicted in many of its peer series.

In this year of the show’s 35th anniversary, here’s a little reminder of the Bundy, erm, charm:
