From the unfairly maligned Ghostbusters reboot to the completely fairly maligned The Boss, Melissa McCarthy has had her cinematic ups and downs. Now she’s channeling Rodney Dangerfield by going back to school in Life of the Party.

Co-written by McCarthy and her hubby, Ben Falcone, he also directs her as she heads back to college after being dumped by her hubby. Erm, that’s the in-the-movie hubby, not Falcone.

Now that we have that cleared up, not only does McCarthy’s Deanna go to college, but the very same one that her daughter is currently attending. She immerses herself in the experience, rechristening herself Dee Rock and getting involved in everything fratty.

Life of the Party also stars Jacki Weaver, Gillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen, Matt Walsh, Molly Gordon and Stephen Root.

Life of the Party – not to be confused with the 2017 Aussie dramedy of the same name – crashes cinemas on May 10. Here’s a taste of it…
