A new action-packed clip from Uncharted, the highly anticipated movie adaptation of the video game franchise, has dropped.
A live-action recreation of the cargo plane sequence gamers will know from Uncharted 3, the two-and-a-half-minute snippet sees hero Nathan Drake engaged in a mid-air battle for survival and hints at the scope of the dynamic action set pieces audiences can look forward to in the film, directed by Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer. It also sees star Tom Holland drawing on the nimble skills he’s demonstrated as Spider-Man.
A prequel story to the games, Uncharted reveals how treasure hunters Drake and Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan got together, and promises all the action and adventure of Indiana Jones, National Treasure and Tomb Raider rolled into one.
“Street-smart thief Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother… but only if they can learn to work together.”
Uncharted opens in Australian cinemas on February 17.
