While most board game movies tend to fall rather flat, Clue – or Cluedo as we know it – hasn’t fared so badly. It now looks like we’re in for more, too.
1985’s Clue was ace, as you’d expect from a cast that included Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean and even Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go’s. So, it’s surprising that it’s taken this long for Hollywood to take another swing at it – most likely with the lead pipe, in the conservatory. What’s most interesting is that Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, is heading up this new big screen take on the board game.
If the presence of Reynolds isn’t enough of a good thing, talks are apparently in progress with the writers of the first Deadpool flick, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, to get Clue happening, according to Deadline. This could make for one very cool – and very rude – murder mystery movie, and possibly another actually good board game flick rather than another Battleship, or Ouija…
Which reminds us. There’s still a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie in development out there somewhere.
