Red Sparrow will see Jennifer Lawrence unveiled as a Russian spy named Dominika Egorova, whose cover is as a prima ballerina.
After a brief tease a few months back, we now have a fully-fledged trailer which gives us more of an idea as to what the plot’s about.
Dominika is unwillingly drafted to become a Russian seductress spy, using her body as a weapon for espionage. After graduating, she’s considered one of the program’s finest assets, and she’s assigned her first target in Nate Nash (Joel Edgerton), a CIA officer. “A spiral of attraction and deception” awaits the two operatives, threatening their careers, allegiances and the security of both countries.
Based on the book by Jason Matthews, Red Sparrow also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Mary-Louise Parker, Jeremy Irons and Charlotte Rampling. It comes to us from director Francis Lawrence, who previously worked with Jennifer Lawrence on three of the Hunger Games flicks.
Red Sparrow is set to hit Aussie cinemas on March 1.
