A new trailer has touched down for scary-fest The Curse of the Weeping Woman, aka The Curse of La Llorona.
It comes from the James Wan stable, and marks the directorial debut of Michael Chaves – who’s also signed up for The Conjuring 3 – as he delivers us a tale based upon a creepy-as Mexican legend.
This involves a horrifying apparition of a weeping woman who is caught between Heaven and Hell after drowning her children, then herself. Merely mentioning her name has apparently struck terror around the world for generations. With her tears now eternal they’re lethal, and those who hear her death call in the night are doomed as she searches out kids to replace her own. Or so the story goes.
As for the movie plot, it’s set in 1970s Los Angeles, when a social worker and her own small kiddies are “drawn into a frightening supernatural realm”. Maybe a disillusioned priest can help save them?
Starring Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez, Marisol Ramirez and Sean Patrick Thomas, The Curse of the Weeping Woman is due in Aussie cinemas on April 18.
