Either somebody at Fox was bored and wanted something to do, or this just may mean something. They’ve released a new trailer for Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror game changer Alien.

It dips into the parts box used by most modern trailers – fast cuts, text zooming out, that bassy “BOOJ!” sound – but mercifully falls short of a lifeless but creepy, stripped-back cover of a popular song. Mind you, if they had gone that route then we reckon this lost Aussie track would have been a top choice…

So, does this new trailer have any bigger meaning, or is it just re-promoting a perennial favourite? When Sony did similar for Close Encounters of the Third Kind it ended up with a remarkable 4K Ultra HD release. Please, please, please let that be the case here.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy the trailer. BOOJ!

UPDATE: Now they’ve let a new trailer for Aliens loose, too…
