A new look at the eagerly-awaited (well, by us at least) Nicolas Cage meta-fest The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has lobbed, and it actually makes a bit of sense.
The movie sees Cage star as a stylised take on himself in an action comedy bromance.
Here’s the blurb: “Nicolas Cage stars as… Nick Cage in the action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalised version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan (Pedro Pascal). Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nick Cage.”
The whole shebang has been co-written and directed by Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment), and also stars Tiffany Haddish, Sharon Horgan, Alessandra Mastronardi, Ike Barinholtz, Lily Sheen, Jacob Scipio and – wait for it… – Neil Patrick Harris.
The concept is brilliant, and we really hope that it’s delivered upon. We’ll find out when The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent kicks off in Australian cinemas from April 21, 2022.
Here comes the new “red band” trailer, which both delivers a sensible outline of the story, and definitely requires a CONTENT AND LANGUAGE WARNING:
