OK, so Nicolas Cage going crazy isn’t a huge stretch, but action blast Jiu Jitsu looks to play to all of the man’s strengths.

We get action Cage, we get wild-eyed Cage, we get quotable Cage, we get calm Cage and we get unhinged Cage – what more could anybody want from a movie?!

Well, how about martial arts star Tony Jaa and B-legend Frank Grillo in the mix too?

And, how about a story about an alien invader who comes to Earth every six years via comet, opening a portal to a distant galaxy and looking for a fight?

Seriously, we couldn’t make this up. If we could, we’d likely be writing B-grade Hollywood action blockbusters instead of news items such as this.

So… the full synopsis goes like this: “Every six years, an ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a vicious race of alien invaders in a battle for Earth. For thousands of years, the fighters that protect Earth have won… until now. When celebrated war hero Jake Barnes (Alain Moussi) is defeated by Brax, the indomitable leader of the invaders, the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Injured and suffering from amnesia, Jake is rescued by Wylie (Nicolas Cage), Keung and his team of fellow Jiu Jitsu fighters. They must help Jake to regain his strength in order to band together and defeat Brax in an epic battle that will once again determine the fate of mankind.”

We’re not going to hide our excitement, as this looks truly bonkers in all the best popcorny ways. Jiu Jitsu is set for a late November release overseas, and hopefully here in Australia too.
