George A. Romero’s groundbreaking 1968 zombie classic, Night of the Living Dead, has been reimagined as an animated feature.

Based on the original screenplay by John A. Russo, Night of the Animated Dead will also include never-before-seen, exclusive animated scenes not found in the original black and white live-action film.

The film’s voice cast features Josh Duhamel (Transformers), Katharine Isabelle (American Mary), Katee Sackoff (Battlestar Galactica) and Dulé Hill (TV’s The West Wing) among the group of survivors holed up in an abandoned farmhouse as a zombie apocalypse engulfs America.

Night of the Animated Dead is produced by Ralph E. Portillo, Robert Feldman and Kevin Kasha , with animation services provided by Demente Animation Studio.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release the film on Blu-ray and DVD in the US early October, and hopefully an Australian release will follow. Meanwhile here’s a look at the US artwork:
