Probably not, but news that a standalone film based on the exploits of Jedi legend Obi-Wan is in the early stages of development is certainly exciting.
Director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader), is the chosen one, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
There’s no script as yet, and no actors are tied to the project. Daldry would oversee development of the script (no doubt with Lucasfilm doing the Darth Vader breathing thing down his neck).
Who do you think should follow in the footsteps of Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan? Depending upon the time in which the story’s set we guess the latter could get the gig.
Obi-Wan isn’t alone in being considered for a Who Do You Think You Are? type movie treatment, with Yoda and Boba Fett spinoffs previously mooted.
Meanwhile, in other Star Wars news, as the Han Solo flick edges closer to release – May 28 next year – its latest director, Ron Howard, has let loose an interesting tweet…

So, could we be looking at some Death Star action in the forthcoming flick? That sure looks like a Death Star trooper helmet to us…
