In amazing news for fans of Ray Donovan, a show that just left storylines dangling in the wind after an abrupt cancellation, a movie-length one-off is coming.
When it was cancelled, star Liev Schreiber promised that we’d see more Ray, and he’s delivering. The movie is a chance to give fans welcome closure after the cliffhanger ending to the series. Schreiber will even be co-writing the script alongside series showrunner David Hollander, who’ll also direct.
Kerris Dorsey will return as Ray’s daughter Bridget, and it wouldn’t be the same without Mickey, so luckily Jon Voight will also reprise his role.
“When Ray Donovan went off our air after seven great seasons, we heard from so many of its loyal fans that they were not ready to say goodbye to Ray and the wonderfully dysfunctional Donovan clan,” said Gary Levine, co-president of entertainment at the Showtime network, who unceremoniously cancelled the show prematurely. “And so, for them, we are delighted that Liev and David are creating a thrilling new chapter of this iconic series.”
