The trailer’s only been out for mere hours and there’s already Oscar buzz for Renée Zellweger, as she takes on the role of Judy Garland in Judy.
The biopic is set in London in 1968, when Garland hits town to perform a five-week sold-out run of shows. Based on the Peter Quilter play End of the Rainbow, it features some of Garland’s best-known songs. The filmmakers describe it as a celebration of “the voice, the capacity for love, and the sheer pizzazz of ‘the world’s greatest entertainer.'”
Beyond Zellweger’s star turn, support comes from Rufus Sewell, Michael Gambon, Jessie Buckley and Finn Wittrock.
Judy is set for an Australian cinema release in October.
