It’s well known that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson rose to fame as a wrestling star. Now he’s changing disciplines to UFC.

He’s not giving up on that somewhat lucrative movie career that he’s cultivated, however, he’s continuing it.

Johnson is set to go from the ring to the octagon starring as two-time UFC champ Mark Kerr in the upcoming biopic Smashing Machine, according to Deadline. The big guy is also producing the flick.

Kerr’s career saw him regarded by many as the best fighter in the world, with his success cut somewhat short by a well-documented addiction to painkillers.

Johnson made the announcement at Madison Square Garden last Friday night.

“Mark Kerr’s story is such an incredible story,” said Johnson. “Here’s a guy who won the two-time heavyweight tournament in the early stages of UFC, and here’s a guy who also went over to PRIDE, and had this incredible run, as many of these warriors have. And I wanted to shine a spotlight on this man.”

Smashing Machine doesn’t even have a studio attached yet, so could take a while to get to our screens.
