Deadpool 2 and the forthcoming X-Men films were conspicuously absent from today’s 20th Century Fox presentation at Comic-Con, with the panel dedicated to spy sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Superhero fans may have been left thinking ‘for Fox sake’, but the new Kingsman is every bit as super and action-charged, as a 15 minute clip revealed. In the follow-up to Matthew Vaughn’s 2014 hit, Eggsy (Taron Egerton) finds himself Stateside and must join forces against a common enemy with the Kingsmen’s American cousins, the Statesmen, who work under cover as whiskey distillers.

On a panel moderated by Jonathan Ross (appropriately), Taron Egerton, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum and Colin Firth upheld the movie’s boozy theme by downing shots on stage, with Berry showing up her male co-stars with the biggest chug of all.

Conversely, Berry plays Ginger Ale, who she describes as “kind of the techy, brain, nerdy character of the Statesmen,” while co-star Tatum revealed he was a big fan of Kingsman: The Secret Service and begged to be part of the sequel.

The best addition to the Kingsman universe, however, is Julianne Moore as the film’s villain, Poppy – a drug baroness hiding out in South America in a ’50s style lair, and with the habit of turning people into mincemeat for her diner.

A new trailer also debuted, along with an animated Kingsman/Archer short.

We simply can’t wait to see this now! Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits cinemas on September 21.
