The Walking Dead panel pays tribute to fallen stuntman and reveals Season 8 trailer.

The Hall H TWD presentation was a more solemn affair this year in the wake of the death of stuntman John Bernecker, who died while performing a fall on the set on July 14.

“John passed away this week after he was injured doing something he loved… helping people tell stories that excite, entertain, and give people escape,” said executive producer Scott Gimple. “He was living his dream and he helped other people do the same thing.”

After a lethargic seventh season, Robert Kirkman promised that Season 8 “will be very action packed and move at a fast pace,” which a new five-minute trailer would seem to confirm. The battle with the Saviors looks to be heating up, and there’s a very enigmatic sting at the end.

“When I first met him, Jesus said my world was going to get a whole lot bigger. We found that world. We found each other. That bigger world is ours, by right. We’ve already won!” declares Rick in a rousing speech that would make ID4’s President proud.

Negan, on the other hand, will beg to differ…

Season 8 premieres in October.

The Walking Dead: Season 7 is out on DVD and Blu-ray on September 27.
