Always ones to get high on their own supply when it comes to advertising, KFC in the US have released another fun, movie-referencing ad campaign.

This one’s a tad more obscure than the recent Robocop outing – check that out here – featuring Sean Astin reprising his role of Rudy from the 1993 film of the same name.

Rudy was always told that he was too small to play college football, but with grit and determination he managed to overcome the odds and fulfil his dream of playing American football for Notre Dame. Now he’s set his sights on becoming Colonel Sanders.

It’s been interesting to note that KFC have gone back to calling themselves Kentucky Fried Chicken. While many rumours circulated as to why they abbreviated the name back in the 1990s, one of the most sensible was because fried food had become demonised, so “KFC” made it less obvious. We love that they’ve gone back to their full name at the same time that Weight Watchers have started calling themselves “WW” in ads…

What goes around comes around, hey Rudy?
