Minions: The Rise of Gru – a sequel to Minions and prequel to the Despicable Me trilogy of flicks – is finally set for release mid this year.
Delayed for some two years now, we’ve seen plenty of snippets (and a whole bunch of merch), and another peek has been unleashed in a new TV spot, featuring Steve Carell as the voice of the despicable Gru getting down to a spot of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Following on from the end of Minions, this one fills us in on the young Gru’s rapid rise to super-villainy – with the aid/hindrance of his yabbering yellow accomplices, of course.
A killer voice cast joins regulars Steve Carell, Russell Brand and Julie Andrews in this one, including Lucy Lawless, Michelle Yeoh, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Taraji P Henson, Alan Arkin and Danny Trejo.
At the moment, June 23 is the day to hit up Australian cinemas for your new Minions fix.
Here’s that TV spot we talked about up above a bit:
