Shane Black gave us everything from Lethal Weapon to The Nice Guys, so he knows a thing or two about action. Now he’s been let loose in the Predator universe – and he’s excited!
He talks more about his “midlife crisis” project in the interview below from this year’s SDCC, and how he sees the original Predator as a piece of pure pulp in the best way – how it harnessed the Rambo and sci-fi crazes of its time with larger than life characters, and how he wanted to craft a love letter to that original.
As for his take on it all, the universe’s most lethal hunters are now stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever. It’s up to a motley group of ex-soldiers and an evolutionary biology professor to prevent the snuffing out of the human race.
The Predator stars Olivia Munn, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay (the kid from Room), Thomas Jane, Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Edward James Olmos, Keegan-Michael Key and action stalwart Jake Busey, and it’s set to attack Australian cinemas on September 13.
