The very specifically titled 47 Metres Down (why not 48 metres, or 57?) brought a hearty chunk of big, dumb shark movie adventure to our screens in 2017. Now it has a sequel.
47 Metres Down: Uncaged is circling, bringing us an enitrely new cast – sorry Mandy Moore fans.
This one stars John Corbett (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Nia Long (TV’s NCIS: Los Angeles) and Sistine Stallone. Yes, Sly really called his daughter ‘Sistine’. Another fun fact is that this flick also stars Khylin Rhambo (TV’s Teen Wolf). You can likely put together why we mentioned that there.
Anyway, while the original revolved around two sisters trapped in a shark cage at the bottom of the ocean with little oxygen and lots of hungry, hungry sharks circling, as the title suggests this one doesn’t involve a cage. The synopsis? “Four teen girls diving in a ruined underwater city quickly learn they’ve entered the territory of the deadliest shark species in the claustrophobic labyrinth of submerged caves.”
We wouldn’t be surprised if this one bypasses cinemas and goes direct to video here in Australia. Either way, we always welcome more silly shark-go-chomp-now action.
