It’s been known for a while that Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan (who is a genius), is crafting a new entry in the franchise. But we haven’t been so sure about who’d be returning to it.
Great news is that Sigourney Weaver will definitely be back, at least according to herself. In an interview with Parade she has confirmed that she’ll be reprising her role as Dana Barrett, adding, “It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!”
Hopefully this is confirmation that surviving Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson will all be counted in for the return. The wonderful Annie Potts has already been ticked off as an inclusion in the new flick.
Mind you, Jason Reitman has intimated that this will be a handing-over-of-the-baton type film, and the casting of the likes of Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace possibly bears this out.
Whatever it becomes, what’s currently known as Untitled Ghostbusters Project is high up our can’t-wait list. At the moment it’s scheduled for a July 2020 release.
