Things are actually happening with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. They must be, as a release date has been set.

November 15, 2019 is the date to texta into your diaries.

For those who missed the news of the movie that broke last year, here’s a recap…

Paramount are now continuing development on a movie based on SEGA’s blue blur, after Sony kind of dropped the ball on it.

There’s some serious Hollywood muscle behind it, too, with very appropriate producers on board in Fast and Furious producer Neal H. Moritz and Deadpool director Tim Miller, whose production company is called Blur Studio. A guy who works with Miller quite a bit, Jeff Fowler, is set to make his directorial debut.

It’s set to be a live action thing. While our mind can easily wander to possible casting choices for Sonic, we’re guessing that it will be done in a Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon kind of way. Speaking of mind-wandering, Rocket and Sonic could make for a formidable buddy flick…

Anyway, plot details are rather thin on the ground thus far, but we’d be surprised if the plot doesn’t involve Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik) doing something nefarious, only to be thwarted by our heroic blue hedgehog.

Whatever, we can’t wait! Hmm, we might bake us some Sonic cookies while we count down the days…
