In a move that should surprise nobody, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been delayed.

After a first trailer hit and everybody wigged out at how utterly wrong this take on a much-beloved pop culture icon looked, the film’s director Jeff Fowler promised that they’d go back and change Sonic’s design.

This would be no small feat, and we were worried that a bunch of poor animators would be stuck doing crazy crunch hours in order to make the film’s planned November release. Thankfully, those animators can breathe a sigh of relief. Phew!

So, February 14 is the planned US release date now. The perfect film for all of those lovebirds out there who do stuff on Valentine’s Day…

If you missed the fuss, here’s that original trailer. If you’re still having nightmares from it, we suggest that you avert your eyes (we type, after posting a full horror image above – sorry)…

(Try to) catch up with Sonic at JB Hi-Fi.
