Just when you thought it was safe to go back on the highway, another movie based on Stephen King’s Christine is in development.

The tale of a killer car is getting a spit, polish and thorough detailing by writer Bryan Fuller, who more recently gave us the Hannibal TV series, and before that the sublime Pushing Daisies. We’re guessing that he’ll be channelling more of his Hannibal side for this horror tale…

It will be Fuller’s feature debut as a director, and good news is that the intention is to keep the film set in the 1980s.

The ever-prolific Blumhouse are producing this new take on the King classic, and it will be interesting to see how it shapes up against John Carpenter’s 1983 version. Speaking of that, here’s an awesome teaser trailer:
