Yes, author Suzanne Collins has been busy at work on a prequel to the world of The Hunger Games, and Lionsgate look poised to get it turned into a film.
Collins has revealed that the new book, set for release on May 19, 2020, will take place 64 years before the dystopian adventures of Katniss that we all know. Or at least that all of us who are into it know.
It isn’t surprising that Lionsgate are rather eager, with the four previous films grossing a total of just under US$3 billion worldwide.
“As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published,” said their chairman, Joe Drake. “We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.”
