Well, a Dwayne Johnson at any rate. Spanish filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) was in the gun to direct Suicide Squad 2, but the omnipresent big guy has poached him.

Amongst a zillion projects that he’s juggling – possibly also including a US presidential tilt – Johnson has signed on for Jungle Cruise. If the title’s familiar then yes, it’s to be based on the Disneyland ride. Hey, it worked for Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland, Mission to Mars, The Haunted Mansion, The Country Bears… Uh, we’re going to stop now.

Anyway, as you’ve likely surmised Collet-Serra was the top choice to park his bottom in the director’s chair for Suicide Squad 2 and was heavily rumoured to have already signed on. But it seems he fancied a big jungle adventure flick over a big superheroic adventure flick. Where does this leave SS2? Erm, looking for a director, we guess.

In the absence of any appropriate footage, have fun with this video of the actual Jungle Cruise attraction at Disneyland. Hopefully the tiger in the movie version will be a tad more realistic…

Have some super-fun with the first Suicide Squad movie at JB Hi-Fi.
