Having controversially been given his marching orders from Guardians of the Galaxy 3 by Disney, James Gunn is crossing streams from Marvel to DC.
In what may be a major coup for the DC Cinematic Universe, Deadline are reporting that Gunn has been hired by Warner Bros to write – and possibly direct – the second Suicide Squad movie.
In Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, Gunn made two very big somethings out of a fairly obscure Marvel licence. He’s apparently been in demand since the whole Guardians 3 incident, and we bet DC are hoping that he can resuscitate their relatively flagging film fortunes compared to their big rival in Marvel.
Meanwhile, rumours are swirling that Taiki Waititi, who made Thor: Ragnarok the massive slice of awesome that it was, is being courted to take over directorial duties for Guardians 3.
