AMC Networks has announced the initial cast of Tales of the Walking Dead, the latest addition to the phenomenal zombie apocalypse franchise.
The Walking Dead‘s fourth spin-off series won’t be more of the same (at least we hope), but rather a six-part anthology of original standalone stories set within the TWD universe and featuring new and established characters. The show will be executive produced by former TWD overlord Scott Gimple, with TWD and Fear the Walking Dead writer Channing Powell onboard as showrunner.
The new cast members poised to be thrust into the jaws of the neverending zombie apocalypse are Anthony Edwards (Top Gun), Parker Posey (Scream 3), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Poppy Liu (Hacks) and Jillian Bell (Bob’s Burgers).
“Anthony, Jillian, Terry, Parker and Poppy are the first wave of singular talents who will further expand The Walking Dead universe into harrowing, hilarious, heartfelt and horrifying new realms and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the family… More announcements, more wonderful folks to come,” said Gimple in a statement.
“We’ve worked hard to create unique, interesting and unexpected characters for both old and new TWD fans and I’m thrilled that these are the actors who will bring them to life. I can’t wait for you to see the depth, drama, terror and yes, humour they bring to the screen,” added Powell.
Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere sometime this winter, but in the meantime series’ fans can get their zombie fix in the second instalment of the epic, four-part 11th and final season of The Walking Dead on February 21.
