Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is just days away now, and the opening credits, which owe a huge debt to the original series, have been revealed.

Set years before Captain Kirk came along to helm the U.S.S. Enterprise, here it’s under the control of Captain Christopher Pike, played by Anson Mount. In a Twitter post, he understandably had trouble containing his excitement:

“Perhaps the greatest honor of my career to date was getting to utter these words: “Space, the final frontier…” I could not be more proud to be a part of the @StarTrekOnPPlus team and I could not be more grateful to the Trek community. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.”

The crew consists of characters both new and very familiar. The likes of Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck also star in the ten-episode series, the latter playing the now legendary Spock.
