Well, somebody in Canberra is sure to be clapping with glee, for The Croods is soon to be an animated television series – The Croods: Family Tree.

Following on from the last movie, the Dreamworks creation is set up a little like this: “The Croods: Family Tree continues the ever-evolving story of the Croods and the Bettermans as they learn to live together on the most idyllic farm in prehistory. The journey from sparring rivals to unlikely friends is fraught with hilarious misadventures as the two families slowly overcome their differences to turn a tree house divided into a tree home united.”

As is usually the way with animated movies spinning downwards onto smaller screens, most of the big-name voice cast will be missing – we’re talking Nicolas Cage, Catherine Keener, Emma Stone, Cloris Leachman, Ryan Reynolds, Peter Dinklage and Leslie Mann – although Kelly Marie Tran is above all that and will return to voice Dawn.

The Croods: Family Tree is set to air from September 23.
