One of our favourite guest appearances on The Simpsons was that of Mulder and Scully (even if it was a Fox cross promotion). Now, The X-Files is getting animated again.

A new series is in development, which will put a comedic spin on the show.

Entitled The X-Files: Albuquerque, TVLine report that the series will focus on a collective of misfit agents who get assigned the cases that are considered too silly or out-there even for Mulder and Scully.

It’s being penned by Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko, who are behind Paradise PD and Brickleberry.

While The X-Files creator Chris Carter is on board in an executive producer capacity, neither David Duchovny or Gillian Anderson, the alter egos of Mulder and Scully, are involved.
