Jennifer Hudson stars as Aretha Franklin in the upcoming music biopic Respect, and we have an ace sneak preview of her in full flight.

The clip below gives us a taste of the classic Think – as featured in The Blues Brothers – and leaves us wanting more, as it cuts off just before the big payoff.

The film, named after her signature tune, is set to follow Ms Franklin’s career from her days as a child singing in her father’s church’s choir right through to her international superstardom.

The feature debut of director Liesl Tommy, the cast roster also boasts Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner and Mary J. Blige.

Respect is set for an Australian cinema release from August 19.
