It appears that military-savvy author Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six is going to become a movie.
Set to be based on the original 1998 novel about ex-Navy SEAL mercenary John Clark, rather than the series of rather successful shooter games from Ubisoft, it’s being developed by Hollywood wunderkind Akiva Goldsman. If the name’s not familiar, he’s done everything from write the likes of A Beautiful Mind (for which he won an Oscar) to adapting Stephen King’s The Dark Tower for the screen and creating – then directing – 2014’s wild Winter’s Tale.
If Goldsman has his way, according to Deadline, then we’ll see Ryan Reynolds in the starring role.
Goldsman will be busy, as he’s also working on bringing the Ologies series of young adult fantasy novels to screen, as well as avenging angel comic book Avengelyne, which was created by the guy who gave us Deadpool, Rob Liefeld.
It’s certainly a varied slate of projects. Could it be time for another Tom Clancy movie in the wake of 2014’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit?
