The fifth Trainspotting universe book from Irvine Welsh, The Blade Artist, is set to bring Robert Carlyle’s Begbie back to our screens – our TV screens.

A six-part event series is set to star Carlyle, in the tale that’s set 20 years after the original Trainspotting movie.

Begbie’s now a new man, reformed and living in California with a wife and two daughters under the name of Jim Francis. He has to face his past though upon a return to Scotland for a funeral.

It’s very early days in the project, but we look forward to hearing – and seeing – more.

Meanwhile, here’s a bit of Begbie in action – complete with fab Pulp backing track – and, not surprisingly, we need to say this: LANGUAGE WARNING!
