With the world getting weirder by the day, the time is right for a return of The Twilight Zone – and it’s going to happen.
The latest updated take on the classic TV spookfest (with that awesome da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da theme) will have Jordan Peele (Get Out) as one of its executive producers, and he’ll be heavily involved in the debut episode, according to Variety.
This will be the fourth TV incarnation of Rod Serling’s genius creation, with the original running from 1959 to 1964, a second popping up in 1986 and a third in 2002 (with Forest Whitaker serving as narrator).
“Too many times this year it’s felt we were living in a twilight zone, and I can’t think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences,” Peele said in an announcement statement.
Speaking of the theme music as we were up there, it was sampled by the mighty Pop Will Eat Itself for their trailblazing 1988 track ‘Def.Con.One’. The band’s Clint Mansell is now a top Hollywood composer (Moon, Black Swan, Ghost in the Shell). Surely he should get the soundtrack gig for the new Twilight Zone series?
