Dr Seuss’ The Grinch is no stranger to our screens, having appeared back in the 1960s in animated form and at the last turn of centuries as Jim Carrey covered in tonnes of makeup and fuzz. Now he’s returning to the animated realm from the Minions people, Illumination.
We had a quick peek at him during the recent Winter Olympics, but now we get a chunkier slice of the mean, green one in the first official trailer for The Grinch.
After a morning wake-up that we can all relate to, The Grinch’s nastiness is established in a scene that’s not too far removed from when we were introduced to Gru’s take on evilness in Despicable Me.
We still have no idea of who’s in the cast beyond Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the most Grinchy one. We’d be surprised if there aren’t a few other known names doing their thing though.
The updated tale of the verdant Christmas louse, sweet little Cindy-Lou Who and the town of Whoville is due to be set loose at the end of the year. Illumination did a great job on Dr Seuss’ The Lorax, so we have high hopes for this one.
