A full-on trailer has finally dropped for Danny Boyle’s six-part limited series that’s based on legendary Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones’s cracking read of an autobiography, Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol.
Simply entitled Pistol, amongst others the series is set to star Toby Wallace (who we’ve recently seen in Aussie black comedy Babyteeth) as Jones, Anson Boon (Crawl) as Johnny Rotten/Lydon, Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Sid Vicious, newcomer Jacob Slater as Paul Cook, Fabien Frankel (Last Christmas) as Glen Matlock and Maisie Williams as the infamous Jordan, who was known as “the face of punk” (and, fun fact, is now a veterinary nurse).
Meanwhile, Thomas Brodie-Sangster – yep, Newt from the Maze Runner flicks – plays legendary Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, and he certainly nails the voice.
The official word goes like this: “Pistol is a six-episode limited series about a rock and roll revolution. The furious, raging storm at the centre of this revolution is the Sex Pistols – and at the centre of this series is Sex Pistols’ founding member and guitarist, Steve Jones. Jones’ hilarious, emotional and at times heart-breaking journey guides us through a kaleidoscopic telling of three of the most epic, chaotic and mucus-spattered years in the history of music. This is the story of a band of spotty, noisy, working class kids with ‘no future’, who shook the boring, corrupt establishment to its core, threatened to bring down the government and changed music and culture forever.”
All the filth and the fury of Pistol is set to hit screens from May 31. Let loose on a little look-see right now:
