In a world where real life politics are becoming more absurd than any parody storylines, the decision has been made to end Veep following a final 2018 season, which will be its seventh.

Yes, one of the funniest things on TV – and the show which finally stopped us seeing Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine – is winding up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“It became clear that this season should be the last season,” Louis-Dreyfus, who’s already bagged five Emmys for her role as Selina Meyer, says. “We don’t want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has a finality to it that feels end-of-series.

Louis-Dreyfus says that she feels the weight of responsibility with the decision.

“I really feel this is my baby and I don’t want to mess it up. I would hate to end on a less-than note. That would make me nuts.”

Shooting on the final season of Veep will commence on October 16. So, there’ll be some continuity, then change.
