Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s ace 2014 comedy/horror/mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows is set to hit our TVs as a new series.
With Waititi white hot in Hollywood after the mega-success of Thor: Ragnarok, the long-mooted series is now taking shape. He and Clement will serve as executive producers, with the former directing and the latter writing.
The half-hour series moves the location from the streets of Wellington to the USA, and will star Matt Berry (Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, The IT Crowd), Kayvan Novak (Four Lions, and the voice of Brains in Thunderbirds Are Go), Natasia Demetriou (Year Friends) and Harvey Guillen (The Internship).
If that isn’t enough for fans of the pair’s unique – and hilarious – humour, Waititi and Clement have two other What We Do in the Shadows projects in various stages of development. The werewolves from the original flick are set to get their own movie outing in We’re Wolves (“What are we? We’re werewolves, not swear-wolves!”), while the TV series Wellington Paranormal will follow cops Karen and Mike as they deal with Wellington’s fang-tastic nightlife and beyond.
Here’s a reminder of just how good What We Do in the Shadows is…
