Screenwriter Gary Whitta has released an epic concept video for a long-awaited sequel to The Last Starfighter, The Last Starfighters.
The 1984 original was an absolute blast, and if the storyboards for this here combination of reboot and sequel are anything to go by, this looks like it would be a treat.
If you haven’t had the pleasure, The Last Starfighter saw video game wiz Alex Rogan whooshed away to another planet after defeating the titular game, only to discover that he’s been recruited to help defend their world from attack. The movie was also where the term “death blossom” was coined.
Whitta – who penned the tale of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – has co-written this labour of love with Jonathan Betuel, and the video features concept art by Matt Allsopp and stirring music from Chris Tilton and Craig Safan.
What do you reckon, would you pay to see this sequel if it were made?
