Rumours that one of HBO’s most loved series – the hard-hitting, hard-drinking and hard-swearing Deadwood – would return in movie form have been around for a while, now they’ve gone beyond rumour to fact.
The much hoped-for confirmation of a Deadwood movie came from HBO programming president Casey Bloys at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, reports Variety.
Deadwood, which was set in South Dakota in the 1870s, originally aired for just three seasons and remains a shining beacon of TV greatness. But how do you get such a sizeable cast back together?
“It’s been a logistics nightmare getting all the cast members’ schedules together, but we are there. It is greenlit,” confirmed Bloys.
The movie is set to commence shooting (heh) in October, with a tentative release date of early to mid-2019.
Here’s a reminder of how good Deadwood was – and needless to say it requires a LANGUAGE WARNING.
