Fans have got their first look at the upcoming sixth season of Homeland, which premieres in the US in January.

After the mainly international settings of the most recent seasons, the latest series promises to be the most topical yet, with the entire season taking place between the US presidential election day (Wednesday our time in real life) and the inauguration.

Picking up several months after the events of season 5, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is now living in New York and working for a foundation that helps Muslims living in the US.

As well as Danes, series regulars Mandy Patinkin, Rupert Friend and F Murray Abraham will once again be reprising their roles in the sixth season, while guest stars this time include Hill Harper (Limitless), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Patrick Sabongui (The Flash) and Dominic Fumusa (Nurse Jackie).
