Cameras are now rolling on the Han Solo Star Wars story, with the latest franchise spin-off going into production yesterday.

The as yet untitled movie will explore the adventures of the young Hans Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and his best pal Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), and like Rogue One, it will be a prequel of sorts to Star Wars: A New Hope.

Woody Harrelson and Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke had already been confirmed for roles in the Han Solo Star Wars Story; new additions to the cast include Thandie Newton (Westworld) and British comedienne Phoebe Waller-Bridge, while Joonas Suotamo will play Chewbacca.

Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said in a statement: “Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous. We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
