Post-apocalypse TV dramas are all the rage these days, but the creator of Luther looks to have come up with an intriguing new spin on the end of the world for his latest project Hard Sun.
Neil Cross’s new six part BBC series is described as a “pre-apocalypse” crime drama and is set against the backdrop of a world that faces extinction in five years time.
Jim Sturgess (One Day) and Agyness Deyn (Sunset Song) head the cast as London detectives who seek to enforce the law and protect their loved ones in a world that every day slips closer to certain destruction.
“To work with Neil’s fantastic writing is a great opportunity and I hope we are going to create an amazing experience for our audience,” Sturgess told the BBC. “I can’t wait to get started!”
Hard Sun begins shooting later this month and is expected to premiere in the UK towards the end of the year.
