David Leitch – pictured above with Keane Reeves on the set of John Wick – is set to direct Deadpool 2.
As previously reported, the director of the first film, Tim Miller, bailed from the superhero sequel, reportedly because of “creative differences” with star and producer Ryan Reynolds.
Drew Goddard (The Cabin In The Woods) and Magnus Martens (TV’s Banshee) were among the directors in the frame to replace him, but according to Deadline, the producers have opted for stuntman-turned-director David Leitch, who helmed John Wick with Chad Stahelski.
The latter flew solo on the upcoming sequel John Wick: Chapter 2, which is due in cinemas in February, while Leitch is currently readying the release of the spy thriller The Coldest City, which stars Charlize Theron, James McAvoy and Sofia Boutella; it is
scheduled for release in July.
