Look out Disney, Paramount and Universal, as Lionsgate are joining the theme park fray.
Lionsgate Movie World is planned as the centrepiece for South Korea’s Jeju Shinhwa World resort, and will span approximately 12.2 hectares.
As well as featuring attractions based around The Hunger Games (ooh, the possibilities!), Twilight and Now You See Me will get the treatment, along with next year’s Taron Egerton-starring Robin Hood. Three other zones have yet to be officially announced – imagine a Saw ride? The John Wick experience? Surely La La Land is a certainty?
Construction is due to start next year, with the opening slated for 2019. According to the promotional guff, we can expect typical theme park fare such as rides, themed restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops. It also promises the ability to experience “4D” events – which in our experience usually means that at some point you’ll get wet.
Meanwhile, John Wick: Chapter 2 has been released this week on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD.
