The signature theme to Luca Guadagnino’s reimagination of Suspiria, composed by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, has been released together with an animated video.
As any fan of Dario Argento’s 1977 classic will tell you, the score is as vital to the impact of Suspiria as the nightmarish and artistic visuals. Where the original boasted nerve-jangling music from Italian prog-rockers Goblin, Yorke’s score will incorporate piano/vocal ballads, Krautrock-esque modular synth work and multilayered vocals. Fleeting instrumental passages can be heard in the track Suspirium, and the complete OST will be released on October 26.
Suspiria is the terrifying story of an American ballet student (Dakota Johnson) attending a prestigious German dance academy that’s run by a witches coven, led by Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton). Original star Jessica Harper also appears in the remake alongside Chloë Grace Moretz and Mia Goth. The film opens in cinemas on November 8.
