When it came time for Harry Potter to journey from novel page to the big screen, a very important question popped up. What does magic actually sound like?
As it turns out, the sound designers made some choices that have gone on to become things that we scarcely notice now – we just accept them as gospel. From using the actual sounds of whatever certain spells involved – fire crackles for fire, splashes for water and such – through to the more wildly imaginative.
