The latest comic book flick from the DC Animated Movie Universe is an adaptation of the best-selling Batman: Hush. So, how does it shape up on 4K Ultra HD? Should you tell everybody about it, or the less said the better?
The story: A cavalcade of Gotham’s most nefarious is being utilised by a strange new villain, Hush. The aim? Bring down Batman – and Bruce Wayne. Add to this the latter’s relationship with Selina ‘Catwoman’ Kyle and, well, it’s complicated.
“Without a code, I’m no better than them.”
The 4K disc: This latest entry in the burgeoning DCAMU doesn’t change the recipe from previous releases. This means an upscaled 2K transfer, and when compared to the standard Blu-ray (handily included in this release) there’s a pleasing upgrade in detail. Add to this the HDR treatment – the benefits of which are noticeable from the very opening scenes of Gotham City – and this is a fine looking animated release.
There are also no surprises audio-wise, with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 delivering the sounds, and delivering them well. Surround channels are used predominantly for atmospherics and score, but really let loose during the more action-packed scenes. The bass then also joins the party, and in all this is a pleasantly enveloping mix.
While no bonus things feature on the 4K disc, the enclosed standard Blu-ray houses a Sgt Rock short, the Catwalk episode of Batman: The Animated Series, a look at the relationship between Batman and Catwoman, a commentary and some previews.
